Information
Grotto started as a small wine bar in a garage and workshop building from 1920 that owners Alexander Kloster-Jensen & Marianne Wiig Storaas acquired in 2021.
The rough, clandestine seasonal wine bar had gravel on the floor and old French wine barrels scattered around the cave-like garage. Two years later they developed the building further and transformed it into a bistro & caveau, keeping the rough interiors that tell the story of its origin - as Oslo’s first garages for automobiles.
In 2024 Bar Americain and Salon d’Argent was added, and fall 2025 Grotto expanded further by opening the seafood bar and salon Mirage.
